BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. — David Gregson, a survivor of alleged childhood sexual abuse, is currently pursuing legal action against the state of New York under the 2019 Child Victims Act.

In his lawsuit, Gregson accuses former state trooper Roger L. Coon Jr. of abusing him during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Gregson claims that Coon, using his position as a trooper, located and transported him in a police car to various locations where the abuse took place.

Gregson further contends that the State Police displayed negligence by employing Coon despite previous credible accusations. Although allegations against Coon were raised in the 1980s, no criminal investigation was pursued, and Coon retired without facing arrest.

Eventually, Coon was convicted of sexually abusing boys after his retirement from the police force. The civil trial for Gregson’s case is scheduled to begin in Albany.
